May 30 - Crested Butte

We came back to Crested Butte to be able to get better morning light for some pictures and it was worth it! A little bit of walking off road and wet feet totally made my day when I took this picture. Another wonderful sunny day in Colorado, with my wonderful boyfriend. How lucky we are!
For this picture I had a tripod, a patient boyfriend waiting for me, a Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8L USM lens.

May 29 - A picture for Denise

Today is my sister's birthday and I am in a tiny little town called Crested Butte, one of the most beautiful, scenery places I've ever seen. Mountains are around us 360 degrees, wherever we look.
We woke up again in a beautiful summer day, with blue sky and warm temperature. Stop many times around the dirty roads to take beautiful pictures.

Grande Denise:
Grande beijo no coracao e feliz aniversario! Moni e Ethan

May 27 - Henry, the lazy cat

Sometimes it is just too funny to find Henry sleeping like a person.
I took this one just before going to bed, since tomorrow we are traveling and I am not sure if I will be able to upload the image of the day. It depends on access to internet in remote areas.

May 25 - Magic flowers again

More than a month later, the flowers still decorate my dining table.
I told Mariah today and she found hard to believe, but here they are, the same flowers, showing some signs of being tired, but still here.

May 24 - Ladder

I promised Lisi that I was going to show her the ladder I built with my own hands (and mami did too). I picked the wood, used a saw for the first time in my life, and built it for decoration. It feels very empowering to know I built it. Not bad for a first timer.

May 20 - Abstract flower

I confess I have my issues with abstract art. I don't have enough knowledge to appreciate it and my brain keeps trying to figure out what am I looking at.
Persistently, I keep trying to photograph a little bit of abstract, playing with color or textures. This way I force myself to explore areas where I know I am not strong, and just push harder to have fun no matter what.
The flowers Mariah gave me will be one month old tomorrow and they are still alive and well in the vase on the table. I got really close this time, with a 100mm fixed macro lens to capture how delicate and how soft is the texture of the flower now.
I decided to treat it as a monochromatic, in a warm, almost sepia like tone.

Mami and Edison have left us today. A foggy day, dark and cloudy, just as my heart when they leave. Very hard to say goodbye. Next year I will come back home to see them again. Henry meows around the house. I think he misses them too.

We went to visit a friend in a farm today, a beautiful spring day in Colorado.
The warmer so far, and the sunniest, perfect for visiting.
Randy's cat is called cactus, a female, short hair cat that was very playful and cute. Here she poses looking at me.

MAy 15 - Lasting flowers

Mami set up the picture of the day today. Funny, all I needed was to tell her " I have to find something to take my picture of the day" and in the blink of an eye, she set up the flowers. In week number one here she found strange that I would take a picture a day, and now she reminds me of it. I guess we all get used to things.

May 13 - Magic flowers

On April 21, Mariah gave me some flowers at the office.I brought them home and they make my days colorful and pretty. Today, May 13, they are still pretty and colorful. We change the water everyday, cut the bottom of the stems, give them an uncoated aspirin a day, and the flowers are still gorgeous at home!
Magic flowers, long life to you!

Again, we had a great dinner, and this time with wine.
The weather changed ,a cold front is in the air and we expect the net few days to be cold.
With chicken fried chicken, white gravy sauce. mashed potatoes and salad, a red cabernet sauvignon was our choice tonight.
when we finished the bottle, a took a picture of the three glasses lined up together.
Another great night to celebrate family together.
Lovely, to be remembered night.

May 10 - Mami laughing

From all the days mami and Edison have been here I have good memories. I think most of the time I will remember their laughs around the house. Both making fun of things and having fun with everything.
Tonight, after dinner, they were laughing at each other about how to "pose" for the picture of the day for my blog.
While I liked the previous picture in the second before this one this moment is much more remarkable to me.

May 9 - Mother's day

Today we spent the day out.
Mother's day, my sweet mami here and we took a hike in Red Rocks Park.
We found a nice shade to take some portraits, and I took this image of mami and Edison under the shade.
They were brave, waking up hill most of the time. No bones broken, nobody felt on the ground and we all got some needed exercise!
We visited a nursery, and then we headed to Monument Valley Park to have a picnic!
And it was not over yet. Mami got her new netbook, and we went out for dinner.
A great day with my sweetheart, Eve, Edison and my wonderful mami!

May 8 - Sand dunes

Today we visited the Sand Dunes National Park, in Colorado.
About 170 miles from home, they are the tallest dunes in United States, and a very important park to preserve the natural ecosystem that has worked for thousands of years in the area. Water melts from the snow and flows through the dunes, taking sand in the current. The water slowly deposit the sand far away from the source where it started, and then the strong wind blows it back, shaping those huge dunes.
A beautiful place, where our eyes feel happy to rest for some time.
Ethan and Evelyn crossed the cold water. My mami, Edison and I didn't have courage to get our feet into the water, but we appreciate the beauty of the place.
