January 31 - Through the window
Today I have been posting one image a day for 31 days!
I have been photographing every day and posting and at the end of the year I know this is an exercise of making me not only a better photographer, but also a more patient and persistent person than I already am.
The light is hiding behind the mountain now but a few minutes ago it touched the arch of the living room porch in such a gold way I couldn't resist but photograph through the (dirty) window glass.
I made it black and white as I like the way the texture is enhanced with this light.

January 27 - Snow is coming
I was leaving work today and the parking lot was dark. I could see the snow was coming. I took a few images to capture the snow still coming (usually by the time I get to see snow is coming I can see no mountains).
It took only a few hours until it reached the city.
I liked that I could still see the mountains and keep details in the darker clouds while seeing the sharp mountains so blue.

January 23 - Drama tree
This was a busy and exhausting week, and with the exception of posting my one picture a day, I really didn't spend much time online. I need to catch up on my online life tomorrow.
Today I took it to rest and have fun. My sweetheart and I went out to Castlewood Creek Canyon Park, about 40 miles away.
It was cold,windy, and overcast.
We scouted the park looking for interesting things to photograph, but the snow around was not letting me see the potential in winter. It does seem a very nice place for summer, with lots of trails and picnic tables though.
When we went to the other side of the park, we found an interesting ruin where we spent most of the time. And that part I liked it a lot!
Of course, we also did portraits of each other and a few images of us together.
My favorite of the day was the "drama tree", like I call it.
The clouds were really nice and I visualize it in black and white, a conversion that usually makes me happy.

January 19 - The last dream
When my father came to visit me in December, he asked me what did I want him to bring me. I had no second guess...chocolate! The ones I cant find here. Although I do have lots of great ones here, I miss the taste of chocolate from childhood.
So he brought me some, and I saved them for later.
Tonight, after my sweetheart cooked me dinner and we had wine, I had the last chocolate, called "sonho de valsa", literally "dream of waltz". So my last dream was consumed today. And it tasted soooo good. I will miss it!

January 15 - An honest smile
This was the only picture I took today and I just love it.
Eve was playing video game, but she immediately smiled when I pointed the camera to her and I took only one picture.
Black and white was my choice to prevent the orange from the chair to take away from her beautiful face.

January 12 - the book of father
When father came to visit we had a wonderful time together.
I enjoy the first calm days of the year to create a coffee table book with my favorite pictures and also ordered all images(197 images!) in size 4x6 to send him.
I loved the book and I took a picture of the cover.

January 6 - Father and me
Today the best and most unexpected surprise happened.
I was at work and my best friend came over with a big envelope. She says she has something to show me and when she opens the envelope I just can't stop crying...the most beautiful gift ever (I am typing and crying again): she made a 16x20 picture of my father and me together, my favorite picture with him. She photographed me with him in her studio in December, when he came to visit me.
The work people and the clients stop and they all want to see the picture. Some people get teared eye with me just by looking at the picture.
In between jobs, I framed the picture and it is hanging on my entry wall.
My treasure, a beautiful father-daughter moment hanging on my wall.
It is my snapshot of HER ART hanging on the wall. My picture is the framed image, not the beauty on it.

Jan 3 - Organizing photos
I woke up thinking of all those pretty prints from 2009 and how happy and greatfull I was.
So I spread all those 350 images over the table to sort and try to put them in order in the album.
I couldn't resist in taking a picture of the pictures. They really look good and organizing the album will be fun.

January 2 - The Manitou Dwellings
Today I visited the Manitou Springs Dwellings for the first time.
Loaded with the heavy tripod, camera backpack and camera hanging on my neck, I had the goal of being selective and not overshoot.
There was not many people visiting because it was cold and windy, and to my surprise, it started to snow as soon as I arrived there.
Lots of people left and I had a good hour or so exploring the area.
While it was not as pretty as I had in mind, I left with a good idea of how people lived there long time ago and I accomplished my mission of not taking too many images. I ended with 9 images that I really like. This is my favorite.
